DIRECTIONS TO POISON CANYON FROM L.A.

Take the 405 Freeway NORTH to the 5 Freeway.

Take the 5 Freeway North to the CA State Route 14.

Take CA State Route 14 NORTH for approximately 67 miles to Mojave.

At Mojave CA State Route 14 bears to the RIGHT.

Continue on CA State Route 14 for approximately 35 miles.

Turn RIGHT on CA State Route 178 EAST to Ridgecrest.

(Do NOT turn LEFT onto 178 west to Bakersfield)

Continue on CA State Route 178 through Inyokern and Ridgecrest.

From the intersection of China Lake Blvd. & Ridgecrest Blvd.,

(Denny’s on NE corner, B of A on SW corner)

Drive east on Ridgecrest Blvd, also CA State Route 178, for exactly 13.6 miles.

(The asphalt lightens at this point)

Then, 1/10^th of mile further, turn LEFT onto unmarked, sandy dirt road (4 wheel drive suggested).  Cross dry riverbed wash.  Turn right onto dirt road and continue to entrance to POISON CANYON.

******“You missed it” Landmark:  from the China Lake Blvd./Ridgecrest Blvd. intersection, at 14 miles you will see “Fish Head Rocks” on your left.  You’ve gone too far.  Continue for .5 miles and turn left into large open lot.  Turn around and drive back .8 miles and make a RIGHT onto the unmarked dirt road.

Cross dry riverbed wash.  Turn right onto dirt road and continue to entrance to POISON CANYON
